Ottawa. Canada has announced a major change in the Express Entry system for immigrants coming to its country. The biggest impact of the change in this system is going to be on those people of India who want to make Canada their new home. The Government of Canada clearly stated that now those seeking Express Entry will not get additional points on job offer. This is expected to have a huge impact on Indian citizens going to Canada in search of jobs. The reason why Canada has done this is not clear yet.
Mark Miller, Canada’s minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship, said the government is taking steps to reduce fraud, as well as continue to bring in skilled workers. He said immigration has always been the foundation of Canada’s success, and we are committed to welcoming the best and brightest to Canada. So that everyone can have access to quality jobs, homes, and the support they need to succeed.
Those going to Canada will be affected
Once this program is implemented, all people seeking Express Entry, including those working temporarily in Canada, will be affected. However, people who have already received invitations to apply or whose applications for PR are in process at Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will not be affected under the new plan.

What impact will this have on Indian professionals?
The new step of the government will be applicable to all the candidates making job offers under Express Entry. India continued its dominance in Express Entry invitations in 2023. In which 52,106 Indian citizens received invitations to apply for permanent residence. Which was 47.2 percent of the total invitations issued that year. However, the potential removal of job offer points could pose significant challenges for applicants from India and other countries.
