Canadian authorities informed Indian consular officials that they were and remain under “audio and video surveillance”, and their “private communications” have also been “blocked”, the Center told Parliament on Thursday.
Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh, in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, said the Indian government had raised strong objections with Canada on this issue in November as they violate all diplomatic provisions.
Responding to a question on incidents of cyber attacks on Indian diplomats in Canada, Singh wrote, “Yes. Recently, consular officers of the Indian Consulate in Vancouver were informed by Canadian authorities that they are and will continue to be under audio and video surveillance and their personal communications have also been intercepted.
