New Delhi, August 25 (PTI) government on Monday released a significant difference in emergency animal healthcare, issued the country’s first comprehensive guidelines for veterinary blood transfusion services.
An official statement stated that blood transfusion and blood transfusion for blood transfers in India and guidelines for blood banks and standard operating procedures establish a scientific outline for animal blood donation, storage and transfusion processes that were previously conducted without national standards.
Blood transfusion is considered to be essential for the treatment of trauma, severe anemia, surgical blood loss, infectious diseases and animal bleeding disorders. Most infections in India were carried out in an emergency without standardized donor screening, blood typing or storage protocol.
The new guidelines issued by the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairy give mandate to blood typing and cross-mating to prevent adverse reactions, donor eligibility criteria including health and vaccination requirements, and emphasize voluntary donation with a donor rights informed through charter.
Major provisions include the installation of state-regulated veterinary blood banks with bio-safety-transportation infrastructure, integration of a health principles to manage the risks of the disease, and standardized procedures for donor registration and adverse reaction reporting.
Framework prepares the outline of schemes for digital registries, real-time inventory tracking and an emergency helpline characterized by a national veterinary blood bank network. Training modules will be included in veterinary education programs.
Future innovations encouraged under guidelines include mobile blood collection units, conservation techniques for rare blood types and mobile applications for donor-attainment matching.
India’s livestock sector consists of more than 537 million animals, while the number of fellow animals is more than 125 million. The joint sector contributes 5.5 percent in national GDP and more than 30 percent in agricultural GDP, supporting food security and rural livelihood.
The guidelines were developed through counseling to practice veterinarians to align with India’s Veterinary Council, Veterinary Universities, Research Institutes, State Governments, and global standards.
Designed as a advisory structure, guidelines will develop with new scientific evidence and field experience, maintaining animal welfare and bio -safety standards.
