The IMA has urged Union Health Minister JP Nadda to address concerns over the delay in the NEET PG 2024 counseling process that is stalled due to a Supreme Court case.
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Tuesday urged the government to explore interim measures that could allow the commencement of the NEET PG 2024 counseling process, ensuring that the interests of both the students and the health care system are protected. Could.
IMA has written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda, drawing his attention to the growing concerns and uncertainty over the delay in the NEET PG 2024 counseling process, which is currently stalled due to an ongoing case in the Supreme Court.
“The delay in the counseling process is causing immense hardship to thousands of NEET PG aspirants across the country,” the doctors’ body said. IMA said in the letter that these candidates, who have worked tirelessly to qualify for postgraduate medical seats, are facing uncertainty about their future for a long time due to the judicial proceedings.
This is also affecting the functioning of health care institutions, as timely induction of postgraduate students is important to ensure availability of medical professionals in hospitals and medical colleges.
“While we fully respect the judicial process and the need for legal clarity, IMA believes that it is necessary for the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to intervene and explore possible solutions to ensure that students’ academic And the business future should not be adversely affected.” It is said in the letter.
Prolonged delays could lead to significant disruption in the academic calendar, impacting the overall training and deployment of specialist doctors in the country, at a time when the healthcare system is already under pressure.
IMA also highlighted that due to non-disclosure of marks this year, many state counseling committees are also in dilemma about giving incentive marks to serving candidates. This again creates a potential hindrance in the further counseling process.
IMA requested declaration of a normalized score to ensure smooth conduct of state quota counselling.
“Therefore, we humbly request the Ministry to engage with the relevant authorities, including the Supreme Court, to find a way for an expeditious resolution of the matter.
The letter said, “If necessary, we urge the government to explore interim measures that could allow the consultation process to begin, ensuring that the interests of both students and the health care system are protected.” Can be done.”
