Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) has launched a new online course called New Age Business Models to make quality management education more accessible. The six-week course is available on SWAYAM, the education ministry’s online learning platform, and is offered by IIMBx, the digital learning arm of the institute.
The registration process started on January 29 and will continue till February 29. The course will end on April 30. The course aims to help students, professionals and people interested in starting their own business better understand modern business models.
Professor K Ganesh has been appointed Adjunct Faculty Member at IIMB. With a track record of launching and exiting successful enterprises such as BigBasket, TutorVista, Portia and Bluestone, he provides invaluable expertise. Additionally, as the Founder and Partner of GrowthStory, he helps emerging businesses and entrepreneurs.
The course includes keynote speakers such as Shekhar Sharma, Founder and CEO of Paytm, Ananth Narayan, CEO and Founder of Mensa Brands, Arun Narayan, Vice President of Tanishq and Vikram Vaidyanathan, Managing Partner of Matrix Partners.
The course uses a variety of teaching methods, including video lectures, case studies, quizzes, self-assessment, and discussion forums. This comprehensive learning approach helps participants understand modern business models.

During the first week, participants will receive an introduction to the business model. Week 2 will include a comparison between the new platform business model and the traditional pipeline business model. In Week 3, you’ll cover topics including platforms and marketplaces, followed by a closer look at Fintech business models and SaaS business models in Week 4. Week 5 will provide insight into a variety of new age business models. Finally, Week 6 will include a study on the topic Key metrics to measure and track new age business models.
