IIIT Bangalore achieved a big achievement, got 12B status from United Grant Commission, see details here

The International Institute of Information Technology Bangalore (IIIT-B) achieved a major milestone when it was awarded the coveted 12B status by the University Grants Commission (UGC) on August 5, 2024.

The 12B status is a special privilege that allows universities to receive funds from the Centre and affiliated bodies for research and academic activities.

Appreciating the achievement, Professor Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT-Bangalore, said that this prestigious recognition is an important milestone in the institute’s journey by opening doors to increased opportunities for research and development (R&D) funding from government bodies.

Professor Das said, “With this status, IIIT-Bangalore is now eligible to receive financial support to pursue our research efforts, especially in niche and emerging areas such as translational research. This support will further strengthen the ongoing research initiatives by our faculty and students.”
