IGNOU Best Innovation Award 2024: Here’s how This recognition aims to benefit young innovators, application form is here

Are you a student of Indira Gandhi National Open University? Have you made any groundbreaking innovations that have solved an issue faced by individuals or society at large? If yes, then you could be close to winning the Best Innovation Award 2024 – a recognition offered by IGNOU that aims to identify and support students who have the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Notably, this is the sixth installment of the award offered by IGNOU. In this article we will look at how this award will be beneficial for young innovators eligible to apply and the application process.

What is the subject area of ​​the award?

In total, there are 16 theme areas based on which applicants will be awarded. The subject areas covered by IGNOU are as follows:

1. Health care and biomedical equipment
2. agriculture and rural development
3. Food Processing and Packaging
4. Smart Transportation and Traffic Management
5. Renewable and affordable energy and alternative fuels
6. Clean and potable water and water management
7. Waste Management and Disposal
8. technology based social innovation
9. E-commerce and business management
10. Robotics and Drones including AI and ML
11. Travel and Travel Management
12. social and environmental issues
13. Smart cities and urban development
14. Innovation in Education Sector
15. Innovations to assist persons with disabilities
16. Any other emerging area of ​​innovation and startup opportunity

Who is eligible to apply?

To be eligible for the award, the applicant must satisfy the following eligibility criteria:

• Applicant must be a bona fide and registered student of IGNOU.
• He/she should develop and implement an innovative product, process or service as a solution to a problem/challenge faced by individuals or society in any field, preferably from the theme areas mentioned above.

How will the award be beneficial for innovators?

• Students who receive the Best Innovation Award 2024 will have the opportunity to enjoy the following benefits:
• Innovator students will get recognition at the national level.
• The best three innovators will receive the Best Innovation Award with a certificate, trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, Rs., 7,000, and Rs. 5,000 respectively.
• Selected potential innovators will get an opportunity to interact with other innovators and learn from their experiences.
• IGNOU says that other potential innovators among the applicants of the Best Innovation Award Scheme will be provided guidance and mentorship to further improve their innovation and take it to the next level.
• Young innovators will also get a chance to participate in competitions organized by the Ministry and other reputed institutions.

Let us tell you here that the students selected for the Best Innovation Award-2024 will be invited to the IGNOU headquarters in Delhi to receive the award.

How should you apply?

Candidates interested in applying for IGNOU ‘Best Innovation Award 2024’ can follow the steps given below to submit their applications.

1. Download the application form from here.
2. Fill the application form in MS Word and submit it through e-mail along with supporting documents ncide@ignou.ac.in,
3. Applicants should also attach a 5-10 minute video clip on the development and functioning of their innovation.
4. They should attach relevant photographs about their innovation.

Candidates must note that the application submission window will close on October 15, 2024.
