Delhi Airport:
There is good news for passengers traveling through Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Now they will not have to wait long for the biometric procedure at the immigration counter. In fact, Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) has installed five new biometric registration kiosks in the immigration area of IGI Airport. With the help of which passengers will now be able to complete the biometric procedure on their own. These biometric registration kiosks will be especially beneficial for those foreign guests who have not had their biometrics done abroad.
According to a senior DIAL official, the biometric registration kiosks installed at the arrival immigration area of Terminal 3 are specially designed for those foreign nationals whose biometric information could not be captured during the visa application process. DIAL claims that this is the first time that such biometric registration kiosks have been installed at an airport in India. He said that all these biometric kiosks will be operated directly under the supervision of the Bureau of Immigration (BOI).
According to Dial, after getting biometric registration done at the kiosk, foreign passengers will spend 50 percent less time at the immigration counter than at present. These kiosks will not only benefit foreign guests, but other passengers behind them will also not have to wait long for the immigration process. According to Dial, at present, without biometric registration, every passenger coming to Delhi takes an average of 4-5 minutes at the immigration counter, due to which long queues are formed in the immigration area during peak hours.
