New Delhi. The Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has identified several critical flaws in Google Chrome. These flaws have been considered serious by the team. The flaws discovered can affect users using Google Chrome on desktop. According to the advisory of CERT-In, these flaws can affect Google Chrome versions before 126.0.6478.114/115 for Windows and Mac and Google Chrome versions before 126.0.6478.114 for Linux.
Alerting about this, the cybersecurity agency has advised desktop users of Google Chrome to update their browser to the latest version so that any potential threat from cyber attackers can be avoided.

What did CERT-In say in its advisory?
The agency issued an advisory on June 19 and said that these vulnerabilities exist due to reasons such as type confusion in V8 in Google Chrome and incorrect implementation in Web Assembly. It said that these vulnerabilities can be exploited by a remote attacker by tricking the victim into visiting a specially crafted web page. If the attacker is successful in exploiting these vulnerabilities, then the remote attacker can be allowed to execute arbitrary code on the target system.
CERT-In has also identified critical vulnerabilities in Google Pixel smartphones. Pixel 5a 5G, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, and Pixel Fold are affected by the security flaw.
These vulnerabilities in Pixel devices originate from incorrect input validation within various components such as Exynos RIL, Modem, LWIS, ACPM, fingerprint sensor, telephony, audio, WLAN HOST, Trusty OS, Pixel firmware, LDFW, Trusty/TEE, Goodix, Mali, avcp, confirmationui, CPIF, v4l2, and GsmSs.
