Mumbai: Actress Saiee Manjrekar, daughter of actor-filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar, says she is sticking to her girl-next-door image as long as directors see her in different roles.
The actor, who has worked in films such as “Dabangg 3”, Telugu feature “Ghani”, bilingual film “Major”, is next seen in “Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha”, in which she plays the younger version of Tabu’s character.
“The whole ‘girl-next-door’ thing is only based on the fact that I’m so young… as I experience things in life, it will show itself or people will see something different in me and offer me different roles.
“If I can rely on girl-next-door roles till then, I would love to do that. When the time comes, I will step out of it and do something else. I am quite open to things but I am happy with the work I am doing,” the actor said in an interview to PTI.
Sai, 22, said she sees her journey in the industry as a “race”, although that’s not the best way to look at it.
“Everyone is running towards the finish line. I think the end goal is the same for everyone, but one could be running downwards or upwards. Everyone’s journey is different, but you have to live them and experience things and see where you want to reach,” he said.
“Auron Mein Kahaan Dum Tha”, is a musical romance drama. Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the film revolves around a couple played by Ajay Devgn and Tabu who are separated when the former is sent to jail for murder. They meet after 20 years.
Talking about her experience of working with Tabu, Sai said, “I think the ease with which Tabu ma’am executes a scene is really inspiring. She is very comfortable and natural in front of the camera and that inspires me a lot.”
Also starring Shantanu Maheshwari, Jimmy Shergill, “Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha”, is set to release on August 2.
