A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Mishra will hear the petitions on alleged irregularities in the conduct of NEET UG 2024 on July 11, 2024. Earlier, the Supreme Court had said that if the integrity of the medical entrance exam is compromised and its question paper is leaked through social media, then re-examination should be considered.
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, heading the bench, directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to make full disclosure in three aspects – when the question paper was leaked for the first time, how the question papers were circulated and the time period between the incident of leak and the actual conduct of the exam.
Hindustan Times conducted a survey to know the public opinion on whether the NEET UG re-exam should be conducted for all the students appearing in May 2024.
As per the survey, 727 people have submitted their responses, of which 68% believe that the NEET UG re-exam should be conducted for all the students who appeared in May 2024.
26% of the survey respondents believe that the re-exam of the medical entrance exam NEET UG 2024 should not be conducted for all the students appearing in May 2024 and 6% of the respondents are unsure whether the re-exam should be conducted or not.
Recently, the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA), which is responsible for conducting the NEET UG exam, told the Supreme Court that cancelling the exam would be “repugnant” and “seriously endanger” lakhs of honest candidates in the absence of any evidence of large-scale privacy violations.
Earlier on June 21, 2024, HT conducted another survey to know people’s opinion on whether the NEET exam 2024 should be cancelled completely, or re-exams should be conducted for some students, which is the right way? Out of 1934 respondents, 56% are of the opinion that the NEET exam should be cancelled completely, 40% feel that re-exams for some students is the right way and 4% are not sure about what should be done.
