Emotional effect of a mass tragedy

After a large -scale tragedy brings a wave of acute emotions – shock, sorrow, feeling of loss, and deep uncertainty. Dr. Praveen Gupta, Principal Director and Head of Neurology, Fortis Hospital says, “Those who have experienced it for the first time, people who are not directly associated or involved, can also experience significant concern about their future, and in this case, it is their future travel plan. They can develop fear of uncertainty in their lives.” The remaining people may be afraid to face similar painful events again in the future.

Consumption of news and social media scrolling, especially focused on a particular phenomenon, may be trigger. “It can leave a direct impact on the brain, further inspire feelings of fear. Anyone can experience a deep sadness for those who lose their lives in this event,” Dr. Praveen says.

Other reasons, they explain, there are sympathy and emotional fingering: “Humans naturally sympathize, allowing us to join the feelings of others. When we see the victims, our brain mirrors are active, which enable us to feel the pain of others.

Processing of trauma

If you are mourning from a distance, recognize your feelings, limit news intake, and reach a reliable person. “Try to find a safe place with your friends and family where you can actually express your feelings. Express yourself feelings. Expressing is the initial point of moving towards treatment,” Dr. Preeti says. Anything that can provide a sense of generality, such as exercise, jernling, or even hearing music between chaos, can help with treatment.

If you know someone who has seen it, it can reduce the feelings of anxiety. “To help them, try to be soft and don’t push too much. Listen to more and do not ask for a fierce details until they open themselves. For them, it also makes a long way physically. If further professional help is needed, look out for signs.”
