IGI airport roof collapse: After the incident of roof collapse at Terminal 1-D of Indira Gandhi International Airport, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu seems to be very serious about the convenience of passengers. This was also seen at IGI Airport late on Sunday night. In fact, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu reached Terminal 3 for a surprise inspection along with senior officials of the ministry late on Sunday night.
On the other hand, with the news of Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu’s arrival at the airport, senior officials of Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and various airlines started gathering at Terminal 3 of IGI Airport. As soon as he reached Terminal 3, Minister Ram Mohan Naidu turned towards the Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC).
From AOCC itself, he reviewed the situation arising in Terminal 2 and 3 after Indigo and Spice Jet Airlines flights were shifted from Terminal 1 and the precautionary measures being taken by various agencies. After a comprehensive assessment of the situation, he also held a meeting with senior officials of the agencies. In the meeting, instructions were given to deploy additional personnel from all agencies to deal with the extra pressure on Terminal 2 and 3.
The war room of IGI Airport was also inspected
Giving information about the activities of the war room, DGCA said that with the help of the war room, better coordination could be done between all the agencies including DIAL, airlines, CISF to deal with the current emergency situation. Apart from this, Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu took detailed information from the officials of Indigo and SpiceJet Airlines about the action taken so far on the issue of alternative flights and refund to the passengers affected after the roof of Terminal One-D collapsed.
A total of 22 thousand passengers were affected on Friday
On this issue, airline officials said that after the roof of Terminal One-D collapsed, 21690 passengers of Indigo and 925 passengers of Spice Jet were affected. Out of these passengers, Indigo has provided alternate flights to 12194 and Spice Jet has provided alternate flights to 250 passengers. Indigo said that 71 flights were scheduled from Terminal One, out of which 71 have been shifted to Terminal Three and Two. Spice Jet informed that 15 flights have been shifted to Terminal Three.
