The couple’s love story began thanks to a friend. The couple’s mutual friend, wellness entrepreneur Milana Snow, suggested that the two meet. In an interview with hola, the Norwegian royal family said that ‘Milana said, “You two have to meet.” Durek admitted that when Milana told him that Martha was a princess, he was ‘scared.’

Durek explained to Milana, “I’ve been in relationships where people held me responsible for their happiness, and that made me decide to focus my attention on God. I wanted my life to be about helping people through my work. But then a friend said to me, ‘What if he’s the person you’ve been waiting for?’”

So, Durek invited the princess to have lunch at his home in California. He further told in the interview that my assistant said I should wear a suit, but I’m not like that – I’m a guy who wears torn jeans, rock and roll T-shirts, kimonos and cowboy boots, so that’s what I wore.

When Durek opened the door Martha felt like she was “greeting an old friend. I said, ‘I know you already’, to which he replied: ‘Yes, we were meant to meet before we were born'”. They had their first kiss just six months after meeting in 2018. I wanted a platonic friendship first. I’m very passionate and grew up in a family where we talked about everything, whereas she was from a different world, a royal family. I wanted to make sure that if we were going to be together it was for the right reasons, that her being a princess had nothing to do with it, and that we laid the foundations of the relationship properly.

The princess made her relationship with Durek official on Instagram in 2019 and they got engaged in 2022. Durek sought the blessings of Martha’s parents, King Harald V and Queen Sonja, before proposing marriage. The two then tied the knot on August 31.
