MP Tourism: If you also dream of visiting the beautiful valleys of Switzerland but inflation comes in the way, then stop worrying. There is a place in Betul district of Madhya Pradesh where you will get a view similar to that of a foreign country. Seeing the greenery, cool weather and natural beauty here, you will say “This is mini Switzerland”.

People fondly call Kukru Hill Station located in Betul district as ‘Switzerland of India’. The height of the mountains here, the greenery spread all around and the peaceful environment wins the heart of every tourist. Wandering on the hilly roads and taking selfies amidst the clouds, the experience here feels absolutely heavenly.

Kukru is the only place in Madhya Pradesh where coffee is cultivated. It started during the British period. In the year 1944, British woman Florence Hendricks had planted a coffee plantation here. Even today, the smell of coffee and the confluence of greenery in the fields here makes it a unique and attractive place.

The climate and peace of Kukru was also very much liked by the British officials. The British had built a beautiful ‘Inspection Bungalow’ here in the year 1906, which is still a symbol of British architecture. Florence Hendrix had prepared a coffee garden on about 160 acres of land in this area, which is the identity of Kukru today.

The weather of Kukru remains pleasant throughout the year. Even in summer the temperature here is lower than the plains. The mist covering the mountains in the morning and evening makes it even more mysterious. Both coolness and peace can be felt in the air here.

Kukru Hill Station is situated at the height of Satpura mountain range. From here one can see the view of Tapti river valley and the dense forests spread far and wide. The scene at sunrise and sunset is so beautiful that one does not feel like capturing it in the camera, but rather seeing it in the eyes.

If you are fond of trekking or nature walk then Kukru is the perfect place for you. Dense forests, small waterfalls and rough roads fill you with thrill. Tourists coming here feel relaxed and refreshed in the lap of nature.

Kukru is situated at the height of Satpura Mountains in Betul district. Road is the easiest option to reach here. The nearest railway station is Betul, which is about 90-100 kilometers away. From here you can reach Kukru by taking a taxi or bus. At the same time, Bhopal and Nagpur are its nearest airports, from where it is convenient to reach by train and then by road.
