On the other hand, across the seven seas, in the Bahamas, a storm has increased the heartbeats. This tropical storm has been named Oscar, which after causing massive devastation in Cuba, is now moving towards the Bahamas.
Hurricane Oscar was 75 kilometers south-southeast of Long Island, Bahamas on Tuesday. According to the National Hurricane Center in Miami, its speed was 19 kilometers per hour. Hurricane Oscar made history
Oscar has made history as the smallest hurricane. Its wind field was only 10 kilometers. It hit Grand Inagua Island in the Bahamas on Saturday and then eastern Cuba on Sunday. This surprised everyone. Hurricane expert Michael Lowry wrote in a report, ‘It rarely happens that there is such a big mistake in predicting a hurricane.’ He said that no model had indicated Oscar turning into a hurricane.
Oscar dropped at least 38 centimeters of rain in parts of eastern Cuba on Monday. The Meteorological Department has issued a warning of heavy floods and land subsidence. There is news of death of six people in Guantanamo. This storm has come in Cuba at a time when the country is already facing a huge power crisis. Due to this, many small protests have taken place. The government has warned that any kind of unrest will not be tolerated.
Oscar is the 15th storm of the Atlantic hurricane season. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has predicted 17 to 25 hurricanes before the end of the season. Of these, there will be four to seven major hurricanes, which will be Category 3 or more powerful.
