Director Anurag Kashyap, who was in the news for films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ and ‘Dev D’, has turned 51. Although he has married twice, he also has a daughter. But at this stage of his life, he lives alone in his two-storey house in Mumbai. Anurag says that it is very important to give time to the family.

Anurag is alone even after 2 marriages

Director Anurag Kashyap, who has acted in web series like ‘AK Vs AK’, ‘Bad Cop’, first married Aarti Kashyap in 1997. Aarti and Anurag were together till 2009. After this the couple separated. In 2011, Anurag married his film actress Kalki Koechlin. Kalki and Anurag’s relationship also lasted only a few years and they decided to separate in 2015. Let us tell you that Anurag Kashyap still lives in the same house in which he shifted after marrying actress Kalki. This house actually belonged to director Shashank Ghosh, which was bought by Anurag and Kalki. Anurag says, ‘When I came to Mumbai, I just wanted to make films. I could have got a house no matter what. Kalki had found this house for me. I used to stay on rent before this. I never lived in a house after buying it. I always preferred to stay on rent because with this you can easily go anywhere.’

I destroyed my daughter’s room, ‘I don’t want nostalgia anymore’

My best memory of this house is when my daughter and I used to stay together in the house and have fun. We used to make films, my daughter used to direct me and I used to act for her. Anurag has now demolished the room in his house in which his daughter used to live. After demolishing that room, Anurag has converted it into a kitchen. He says, ‘It had a lot of her memories which I don’t need anymore. That’s why I have demolished it. I don’t want nostalgia anymore. I don’t want to think about anything that is no longer in my life. It has taken me a lot of time to come out of all this.’ Anurag further says, ‘Actually you come to that point in your life, when you grow old and think ‘what all have I not done in life…?’ Then I feel that I did everything else, but I could not give time to myself and family. What now… what is the use of regretting now when the birds have eaten the crop.’

Must spend time with family

Talking about this shortcoming in his life, 51-year-old Anurag Kashyap says, ‘I now advise many people who are about to get married to spend as much time as possible with their family. Because this is the thing that you will miss a lot later on. My daughter has grown up now and is about to get married. Now I realise that I have not made as many memories with her as I should have.
