Mumbai, September 18, 2024 – The Happiest Place to Work® in collaboration with Happiness Research Academy has released its latest report “Happiness at Work – How Happy is India’s Workforce? – 2024”. The report is the result of a comprehensive pan-India research exercise that examines happiness patterns across different genders, age groups, geographies, and industry sectors within India’s urban workforce.
key findings,
• 70% of Indian workforce unhappy at work: A large section of employees across the country are suffering from dissatisfaction in their professional lives.
• Wide disparities in happiness levels among people of the same age group: People of the same age are experiencing very different levels of happiness, indicating that factors other than age play an important role in workplace satisfaction.
• Gender and geographical differences in happiness: The report highlights significant differences in happiness levels between men and women across different regions and industry sectors. In the Eastern and Central regions, women report higher levels of happiness, while in the Northern region, men are significantly happier than women.
• Sectoral Happiness Ranking: The FinTech sector has emerged as the happiest industry, while the Real Estate sector has been reported to be the least happy.
• 54% of employees are considering leaving their organization: This worrying statistic points to a potential wave of resignations, particularly among employees who feel unsupported or unfulfilled at work.
• Supportive environments reduce turnover: Employees who have the opportunity to pursue personal interests in a supportive environment are 60% less likely to leave their job.
• Risk of job attrition among Millennials: Millennials have the highest intent to quit, with 59% thinking of changing jobs.
• Collaboration and expression challenges: 63% of employees experience collaboration inertia due to conflict, while 62% struggle to express their ideas openly.
The “Happiness at Workplace” report draws its insights from a scientifically robust sample of 2,000 respondents across 18 industry sectors.
