Filmmaker Hansal Mehta has appreciated comedian Kunal Kamra’s decision to not apologize for his remarks on Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra, which led to a large line. Hansal does not apologize for Kunal’s decision
When asked about his opinion about Kunal Kamra, denying an forgiveness, Hansal said, “It is very brave to say so. Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina were forced after India’s improper remarks after the previous remarks of India, but Kunal Kamra has held his ground even after taking out everyone, and it is a large extent.”
Hansal feels that Indians lack the ability to laugh at themselves’
Hansal was also asked about the stand-up comedian that he is “troubled by years” and if it is because “we lack a sense of humor”. He said, “We have a lack of ability to laugh at ourselves; it naturally does not come to us. The second day, I was watching this video, I think it was Golden Globes, and this person was saying some things about Robert de Niro, Al Pachino and Clint Eastwood, which were saying something really, which were all in the audience and we are not laughing.

After his comment on Eknath Shinde caused a controversy, Kunal shared a post on Instagram, in which he said he would “apologize”, saying that “he is not afraid of this crowd and I will not hide under my bed, waiting to die under it”.
Hansal Kunal is supporting Kamra
Hansal had already defended Kunal, saying that no matter how deep the disagreement is and how fast, violence, threatening and humiliation is how fast. In a series of X posts, the director recalled his ordinance with the Shiv Sena about 25 years ago, when the then obedient political party workers vandalized his office.
“What happened to Kamra is sad, not new to Maharashtra. I myself live through it … he did this vandalism, physically assaulted me, blackened my face, and forced me to publicly apologize for falling on an elderly woman’s fall on the feet of an elderly woman for an single line in my film,” Read a part of his note. He mentioned his 1997 film Dil Pe Matt Le Yaar, which was approved by the censor board with 27 other cuts.
