Ismail Haniyeh News: Hamas’s top leader Ismail Haniyeh died in a bomb blast in Iran’s capital Tehran on Saturday, July 31. Israel is being held responsible for Haniyeh’s death. Just a few hours before the assassination, Ismail Haniyeh and Iran’s Supreme Leader Al Khamenei gave a joint interview to the media in Tehran. Selected excerpts from this interview are being presented here-
Ismail Haniyeh: In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful. First of all, I send my greetings from the heart of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the people of Palestine, their brave soldiers in Gaza, the West Bank and elsewhere.
Al Khamenei: We realize and see the greatness of what the people of Palestine and Gaza are doing.
Ismail Haniyeh: The Palestinian cause is a top priority for the leader of the revolution. Among our brothers is brother Yahya Sinwar, who was imprisoned in the Zionist regime’s prisons for 25 years and was sentenced to 430 years of life imprisonment.
Al Khamenei: Almighty God! Showing the world the greatness of resistance, perseverance and jihad on the path of God.
Ismail Haniyeh: I am your patron of the resistance in the Islamic Republic. There has been great success in fighting the Zionist regime outside the borders.
Al Khamenei: We hope that, God willing, the enemies will become even weaker and more humiliated than before.
Ismail Haniyeh: God bless. We are on the path to victory and moving towards victory. Let us affirm this historic moment. The Zionist regime is moving towards destruction. God bless. Thank you.
