Dr. Manvi Verma, a cosmetic gynecologist and female sexologist, tells health shots that sometimes leaks can also be extremely uncomfortable and can increase the risk of infection. Therefore, it is important to receive timely treatment.

What is urine incontinence?

Urine incontinence refers to damage in the unintentional urine. This occurs when the urinary system of the body is responsible for the elimination of filtering, storage and waste, not functioning properly. Dr. Verma explains, “Generally, you can catch urine until you reach a toilet, but incontinence means control. Although age can increase your risk, urine incontinence can affect anyone, young or old,” Dr. Verma says.

Urinary incontinence

There are two most common types of incontinence:

Stress incontinence: It occurs during physical activities such as sneezing, laughing, running or raising heavy objects.

urge incontinence: This includes sudden, intense urge to urinate and not reach the bathroom over time.

Some women experience mixed incontinence, combining both types. Many people ignore minor leaks, assuming that they are a common result of childbirth or aging. However, even topical leaks indicate that your pelvic muscles or bladder may require medical attention.

2. Dietary changes

Avoid irritability of the bladder such as caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods and acidic fruits. Drink 6 to 8 glasses of water a day as dehydration can actually spoil symptoms.

3. Bladder training

Bladder training helps to increase the time between bathroom seizures and reduces urgency. A healthcare provider can help create a bladder program that suits your needs.

Excess weight puts pressure on your bladder and pelvic muscles. Even losing weight in small amounts can greatly improve symptoms.

5. Address constipation

Chronic constipation can emphasize the pelvic floor. Eating more fiber, staying hydrated, and regular exercise can help regulate your bowel movements.

6. Incontinence product

Using an absorbent pad or handheld urinal can offer comfort and ease.

7. Medical intervention
