In Qatar’s capital Doha, police had confiscated two copies of Guru Granth Sahib, on which the Foreign Ministry said today that India has talked to Qatar on this issue. After this, one copy of the holy book has been returned on the initiative of the government. At the same time, efforts are on to return the other copy.
On this matter, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, said, ‘We have seen reports regarding the Guru Granth Sahib being confiscated by Qatari authorities and the Sikh community demanding its return. The government has already taken up the matter with the Qatari side and our embassy has apprised the Sikh community in Doha of the developments.
