Marathi actress Girija Oak Godbole, who went viral for her blue saree look, has talked about her morphed pictures and videos. He shared his video messages in Hindi, English and Marathi on Instagram.
He started talking about all the attention he was suddenly getting. But it hasn’t come without some bad elements, either. She said, “Many of my friends, relatives and acquaintances have been sending me posts and memes. Some of them are ridiculously funny and very creative, but some are AI-morphed images of me which are not in good taste. They sexualize and objectify me, and it makes me uncomfortable.”

She added, “I’m someone who lives in this digital age. I use social media myself, so I understand how it works. When something goes viral or starts trending, images like this are usually created and circulated. As long as people are clicking, liking and engaging, that’s it. But what bothers me is that there are no rules in this game – anything. Doesn’t seem out of bounds.”
Girija is worried that her son will get to see such videos in the future. “I have a 12-year-old son. He doesn’t use social media yet, but eventually he will. Once he’s older, he’ll be exposed to these images. They may still be circulating, but they’ll be on the Internet forever. These pornographic images of his mother are something he’ll see one day. He’ll know they’re not real – they’re AI-generated, just as anyone who sees them now knows they’re fake – but they’re still Gives people a cheap thrill, a kind of tickle. I know there’s not much I can do to stop it, but doing nothing doesn’t feel right either.”
Girija Oak’s advice to miscreants
He ended his message with a piece of advice. “So I’m pleading here: If you are someone who uses AI to change images of women, men or anyone into something inappropriate, please think twice. If you don’t create this content but enjoy consuming it, you are also part of the problem. I can only ask you to reconsider.
