The application process for Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (Gate) 2026 is closed on 28 September without any delay. Candidates who are not registering yet, can do this by visiting the official website, Gate 2026.Iitg.ac.in. Candidates who remember the initial deadline can still apply for Gate 2026 by October 9, 2025, by paying late fees.
According to the official notice, the registration fee for this is Rs 1000 for SC, ST, PWD, and women candidates and Rs 2000 for unreserved category candidates. However, candidates for women, SC, ST, and disabled categories will have to pay Rs 1500 to apply with late fee and others will have to pay Rs 2500.
Bachelor or final year students can apply for the examination to students with degrees in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, art/humanities. There is no age limit for the gate.
How to apply for Gate 2026?
step 1: Go to gate2026.Iitg.ac.in on the official website of Gate 2026.
step 2: On the homepage, apply the online link and click on it.
step 3: Next, register yourself on the portal by providing the required details.
step 4: After logging in, fill the GATE 2026 application form and submit all the necessary documents.
Step 5: Pay the application fee and click further.
Step 6: Save and take a hard copy of the application for future reference.
Gate 2026 Exam Date
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced that the Graduate Aptitude Test, Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) will be reinstated to avoid possible clashes with the Graduate Aptitude Test, Union Public Services Commission (GATE) for 8 February.
Initially, Gate 2026 was held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February. The 8 February examination can now be taken on 6 February or 16 February. The updated schedule will soon be posted on the official website. The exam will be held in two shifts every day, with the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and in the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. According to the official notice, the results will be declared on March 19, 2026.
According to the annual calendar of Gate 2026 Committee UPSC, on 8 February 2026, the possible scheduling conflict with UPSC ESE 2026 is aware. Therefore, specific gate papers (CE, EC, EE, GE, GG, In, Me, Pi) will not be determined on February 8, 2026.
