The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati has announced that the Graduate Aptitude Test, 2026, was initially prescribed for 8 February in Engineering (Gate), will be re -resolved to avoid possible clashes with Union Public Services Commission (UPSC) ESE exam.
Earlier, Gate 2026 was held on 7, 8, 14 and 15 February. The examination of 8 February can now be taken on 6 February or 16 February. The revised schedule will soon be updated on the official website. It will be held in two shifts every day, with the morning session from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm and in the afternoon session from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm. According to the official notice, the results will be declared on March 19, 2026.
According to the official notice, the Gate 2026 Committee is aware of the possible scheduling conflict with UPSC ESE 2026 on 8 February 2026 as per UPSC’s annual calendar. Therefore, specific gate papers (CE, EC, EE, GE, GG, In, Me, Pi) will not be determined on February 8, 2026.
Gate 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The Gate 2026 Exam is currently available to its third year or higher students of any graduate program, as well as who have already received a government recognized degree in engineering, technology, architecture, science, commerce, art, art or humanities.
IIT Guwahati will close the application window for the Gate 2026 exam on Sunday, September 28. To apply, candidates need to prepare their 10th and 12th documents, passport-shaped photos, signature and other necessary documents to complete the online form. Additionally, candidates will have to provide their category certificate (SC/ST), UDID/PWD Certificate, Dyslexic Certificate, and any relevant attachment in PDF format if applicable.
