GATE 2025: What is the objective of GATE 2025? Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee – Nodal Institute for conducting Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)-2025 – Registration Window for Admission The last date to apply for admission to postgraduate engineering programmes will be available on gate2025.iitr.ac.in on Wednesday, August 28, 2024. The last date to fill the admission form without late fee is September 26, while the extended last date with late fee is October 7, 2024.
The exams will be conducted on 1st, 2nd, 15th and 16th February 2025 in two shifts – forenoon and afternoon. The first shift (forenoon shift) will start at 9:30 AM and end at 12:30 PM, while the second shift (afternoon shift) will start at 2:30 PM and end at 5:30 PM.
Candidates must keep in mind that IIT-Roorkee Interested candidates are cautioned that other dates are subject to change.
As per the GATE 2025 notification, the application can be filled online only and a candidate can fill only one application form. If the candidate wishes to appear in the second paper (from the two-paper combination), he/she can add the respective paper to his/her original application. In case of multiple applications, only one will be accepted, and the remaining applications will be rejected without any refund for the fee paid.
GATE 2025: Documents required during the registration process
Candidates should note that they need to submit the following documents to complete the GATE 2025 registration process:
- Photograph: Candidates will need a high-resolution passport size (3.5 cm width × 4.5 cm height) photo in JPEG/JPG format. The file size should be minimum 5 KB and maximum 1 MB.
- Signature: High-resolution image (3.25 x 3.75) of the candidate’s signature in JPEG/JPG format. The file size should be between 5 KB (minimum) to 200 KB (maximum). Candidates must note that signatures other than in black and blue will not be accepted.
- Scanned copy of Category (SC/ST) certificate in PDF format (if applicable).
- Scanned copy of PWD certificate in PDF format (if applicable).
- Scanned copy of certificate Dyslexia In PDF format (if applicable).
- Scanned copy of valid photo identity document: Aadhaar-UID (Preferred)/Passport/PAN Card/Voter ID Card/Driving License.
- The photo identity card must contain the candidate’s name, date of birth and unique photo identity card number.
- Address for communication (with Pin code)
- Eligibility Degree Details
- Net-banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI details for fee payment
Candidates should note that the GATE 2025 scorecard will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result.
GATE 2025: Eligibility Criteria
As per the notification, candidates presently studying in the third or higher year of any schoolgraduate degree programOr those who have completed any government approved degree programme in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science/Commerce/Arts/Humanities are eligible to appear for GATE 2025.
GATE 2025: Application Fee
Female/SC/ST/Persons with Disabilities (per test paper): 900 (between August 24 and September 26) and ₹ 1400 (with late fee: September 27 to October 7, 2024).
All other candidates including foreign nationals (per test paper): 1800 (24 August to 26 September) and ₹ 2,300 (with late fee: September 27 to October 7, 2024)
GATE 2025: Exam Pattern
As per the notification by IIT-Roorkee, GATE 2025 will have 30 exam papers. The exam question papers will be in English and will be entirely objective type. Candidates will be allowed to choose one or two test papers from the acceptable combinations. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours and the GATE score will be valid for three years from the date of declaration of the result.
The types of questions include Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), Multiple Choice Questions (MSQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions. In MCQs, only one option out of four is correct. In MSQs, one or more than one option out of four are correct; and for NAT questions, the answer must be entered using the virtual keypad. Candidates must use only the on-screen virtual calculator for their calculations.
