G20 Johannesburg Summit 2025: The G-20 summit is going to start from today in Johannesburg, South Africa. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived here on Friday evening. He will participate in the summit of G20 leaders here. This occasion is also historic because for the first time the G20 summit meeting is being held in the African continent. As soon as he reached Johannesburg, Prime Minister Modi said that he would present India’s vision to the world in the conference, which is based on the spirit of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ and ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future’.
Prime Minister Modi will also hold many important meetings during the tour. The most important meeting is scheduled with Japan’s new Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, with whom he will hold talks on the sidelines of the conference. Along with this, the Prime Minister will also participate in the sixth IBSA (India, Brazil and South Africa) summit during his stay from 21 to 23 November. In the statement issued before leaving India, Prime Minister Modi had said that this conference is also special because for the first time the G20 meeting is being held on African soil. He also reminded that during India’s 2023 presidency, the African Union was made a member of the G20, which was considered a big step for developing countries.
This year South Africa has chosen ‘Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability’ as its G20 theme. Taking this theme forward, South Africa has also included the results that came out in the earlier conferences held in New Delhi and Rio de Janeiro.

G20 Summit Live: This time the absence of America, the world’s largest economy, has become the biggest news in the G20 Summit being held in South Africa. The Trump administration has boycotted the Johannesburg conference citing racial allegations against South Africa and disagreement with the summit’s DEI-Diversity, Equity and Inclusion agenda. President Ramaphosa remained calm and just said – ‘His absence is his loss.’ Argentinian President Javier Milli is also not coming in support of Trump.
