The Press Information Bureau (PIB) has released a fact-check on its social media account to make it clear that Abir Gulal will not release in India.
Pakistani actors Fawad Khan and Vanani Kapoor’s upcoming film Abir Gulal hit a road on 22 April after the Pahalgam terror attack. The romantic drama was determined to make its debut in Indian cinemas on 9 May, but was not released. In the last few days, there were several reports, claiming that Abir Gulal was released in India on 26 September. Now the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has rejected these claims and said that the film is not released in India.
Abir Gulal will not release in India
The official X account of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) shared a new tweet on the reports in which Abir Gulal is ready for a dramatic release in India. The tweet stated, “It is being claimed by several media outlets that the film” Abir Gulal “will be released in Indian cinemas on 26 September 2025, starring Favad Khan and Wani Kapoor.

After the Pahalgam terror attack on Tuesday, April 22, several calls were made to stop Abir Gulal’s film release in India. Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also reiterated their instructions to ban Pakistani artists. He called for a complete non-cooperation with all Pakistani actors, singers and technicians within the Indian film and entertainment industry. Despite the film’s official music rights label, the songs of the music album of the film’s music album have also been removed from the YouTube handle of Sargama.
About the film
Abir Gulal is manufactured by the production of Indian stories, as well as with a rich lens and raje paintings. Vivek B. Aggarwal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy are credited as producers in the film. The film shot in London also includes Lisa Hayden, Riddhi Dogra, Farida Jalal, Soni Razdan and Parmeet Sethi.
