Candidates appearing for West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) 2025 are facing increasing concern and confusion as West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) does not have to announce the result date. The delay follows an interim order by the Calcutta High Court, which by July 31, 2025 prohibits the implementation of recent state government decisions on OBC-A and OBC-B category reservation.
Aspirants told AyraNews24x7.com that despite repeated calls to WBJEEB, WBJEE 2025 results have not been confirmed yet.
Social media platforms have been filled with questions of thousands of students, when the results are released, they are demanding clarity.
More than 1 lakh students from West Bengal and other states register every year for WBJEE. The entrance examination is an entrance for graduate engineering, technology, pharmacy and architectural courses introduced by various institutions in the state.
Students say the delay is already affecting their educational and personal plans.
Sneha Roy said, “I have received counseling dates from private colleges in other states, but I cannot decide without knowing my WBJEE rank. I want to study in West Bengal, but the delay is getting caught.”
Another aspiring, Rajat echoed similar concerns. He said, “I have prepared for WBJEE for two years. Now, due to this legal issue, I am stuck in Limbo. My parents are hesitant to pay some other fees, hopefully I will get a good WBJEE rank. It’s extremely tense,” he said.
On 15 May, WBJEEB president Sonali Chakraborty indicated that the results may be “delayed” due to the legal proceedings on the OBC quota. However, no official update has been released since then.
With admission in engineering and pharmacy colleges dependent on WBJEE results, candidates are left waiting, uncertainty whether the results will be declared before or only before or only.
What is the delay in the WBJEE 2025 result declaration?
The delay in WBJEE 2025 results is mainly due to the legal issue involving OBC (Other Backward Classes) reservation policy in West Bengal.
On 17 June, the Calcutta High Court issued an interim migration on the executive information issued by the West Bengal government related to reservation given to 140 sub-intelligences under OBC-A and OBC-B categories. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee took this decision a few days after implementing the revised OBC list in the state assembly. The opposition BJP raised objections, alleging that a significant number of newly added groups in the list belonged to the Muslim community.
The court was hearing a petition filed by Amal Chandra Das, which challenges the validity of the updated list. A division bench, including Justice Tapbrata Chakraborty and Justice Rajasekhar Mantha, ruled that all the concerned executive orders issued between May 8 to May 13 will be suspended till 31 July, which is pending further reviews.
Although the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board (WBJEEB) has not officially added delay in court case, the results include category-wise ranks, which are important for admission under reserved quota. The ongoing legal proceedings may affect the release schedule.
