Highlights of the programme
The Eveready Lighting Spotlight Series held in Chennai featured four interesting panel discussions covering a variety of topics from lighting and health to human-centric lighting. These discussions invited prominent figures from the design industry to spark conversations on emerging trends and solutions. The presence of Mohit Sharma (BU Head, Eveready Lighting) and his team took the event to new heights.
In the first panel discussion it was emphasized that, “How does residential lighting shape mood and wellbeing in modern homes?”Exploring the impact of lighting in residential designs. Ammar Aziz Chowdhury from ED+ Architecture and panelists Banumathi of Ba.Li.Ka, with Dr. Ponni M Concessao as moderator.
Ponni & Rahul Architects, Founders and Partners of Oscar, Inesh Shah of AWOL Design Studio, Madhu Mitha of VB Design Lab and Prashanth C Raju of CRR Architects took the discussion on deck to a whole new level. The panel delved into the importance of lighting in shaping mood and wellbeing while keeping in mind the needs of occupants in modern homes.
The second panel discussion was “The role of adaptive lighting in improving commercial spaces” with emerging industry players. The discussion was moderated by Sejal Chauhan of sc.rypt Interiors, Abhinandan Jamad of Story Inside Interiors, Jerry Mesch J of Dwellion Architects, Anuradha Desikan of ADVA Architects & Consultants and Mridula S. Choudhary of ED + Architecture sharing expert insights on adaptive lighting. The discussion highlighted the idea of adaptive lighting and how it improves commercial spaces in the modern scenario.
Highlights from the third panel discussion “Know what the future holds for smart and interactive lighting”Panelists included Bharat Kumar of Bharat Design Solutions, Raghveer Ramesh of Studio Context, Karan Kumar of AWOL Design Studio, Iftikhar Ilyas of LightLab, Ekta Agarwal of FOAID Designs and Malarvizhi A of Architecture WIP, who shared their views on smart lighting. The discussion offered a glimpse of the future, where smart and interactive lighting will be the preferred choice for people, enhancing convenience and ease of use.
The last panel discussion was on the topic “Human-Centered Lighting: Designing Workplaces for Optimal Productivity” Moderated by Amardeep Dugar of Lighting Research and Design. Various experts were invited to the discussion: M Uma Chakravarti, HOD, Meenakshi School of Architecture, Meenakshi College of Engineering, KK Nagar, Chennai, Gokulamurali KN of Edifice Consultants Pvt Ltd, Sundar Velan of DoFX Architecture, Sunayana Subbaiah of Dias Design Consultants Pvt Ltd, Pavithra Venkatesh of Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd, VS Vigneshwar of Architecture Plus Value and Suraksha Acharya of Midori Architects explained the importance of human-centric lighting. The panel discussed in detail about designing workplaces for productivity and the important role of lighting.
