Learn the right way to eat your meals to help reduce insulin spikes and better blood sugar control.
Controlling blood sugar is one of the major health concerns. Many people believe that they need to add or remove certain foods from their diet to stabilize it; Otherwise, certain meals may cause blood sugar to rise rapidly, followed by a sudden drop. But what if you could eat the same foods and still keep your blood sugar under control? Addressing this, New Jersey-based endocrinologist Dr. Alessia Rohenault shared on Instagram on Dec. 13 that it’s actually your eating order that’s the secret game changer!

What is the correct order of eating?
The common habit that most people adopt is to start their meal with heavy carbohydrates like roti or rice. But the endocrinologist rejected this habit, calling it wrong. “Most people start their meal with bread, but this pattern causes your blood sugar to rise rapidly,” he said.
Why is it important that you change the order of your meals?
The order in which you eat foods affects how your body absorbs sugar, even if the food remains the same. According to endocrinologists, this happens due to simple physiology.
“Vegetables and proteins slow gastric emptying, so glucose enters your bloodstream more slowly, and that means less insulin is required for that food,” he elaborates.
Dr. Rohnelt explained that insulin helps the body store fat, so if you keep insulin spikes to a minimum, you can aid weight loss. And it’s very simple, you just need to change the order in which you eat, while eating the same things, but this time you have a better metabolic response.
