This matter came before the apex body when a petition was filed in the court regarding the services being provided to B.Ed degree holders as primary teachers.
The Supreme Court on Monday, April 8, issued an important clarification regarding the employment status of B.Ed. Degree holders working as primary school teachers. Emphasizing that the qualification of the primary teacher is important, the apex body provided a detailed clarification on the decision taken in August 2023.
According to the decision, the teachers who were appointed through advertisements, B.Ed. The degree will retain its place. The decision was taken by a petition filed regarding the employment status of B.Ed. Degree holder as Primary Teacher. In response, the Supreme Court had earlier declared on August 11, 2023 that the B.Ed. Degree holders were ineligible for primary teacher posts.
After this decision, concern has arisen among serving primary teachers. However, the Supreme Court has clarified that this decision will have no impact on teachers recruited before the August decision; Their jobs will be safe.
Further, the apex court emphasized that through regular appointments B.Ed. Candidates should be appointed. Qualifications as listed in the job advertisement, will continue to be eligible for their posts.

In light of this, the Supreme Court reiterated that this judgment applies not only to Madhya Pradesh but to the entire country to ensure uniformity in primary teacher appointments.
