Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor have broken their silence on the case registered against them under the POCSO Act for Alt Balaji’s web series Gandii Baat. He denied the claims and shared an official statement on Tuesday. The official Instagram handle of Alt Balaji shared a statement clarifying that Shobha and Ekta are “not involved in the day-to-day operations” of the company.
The official statement read, “With reference to various media reports regarding the web series Gandii Baat, ALT Digital Media Entertainment Limited (Company) clarifies that it is fully compliant with all applicable laws including the POCSO Act and any reference to engagement of minors. Fully compliant.” The statement made by the company is completely false.”
The statement also mentioned that the mother-daughter duo is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and it is managed by separate teams.
“It is further clarified that Mrs. Shobha Kapoor and Ms. Ekta R. Kapoor are not involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and it is managed by separate teams, including its content strategy. The company has been referred to the Judiciary But we have full confidence in that and that is, “We are fully cooperating with the authorities in the investigation. Since the matter is sub judice, the company is refraining from commenting in detail,” the statement said.
Mumbai Police questioned producer Ekta Kapoor and her mother Shobha Kapoor, who were booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly showing inappropriate scenes involving minor girls in an episode of Alt Balaji’s web series Gandii Baat.
During interrogation on Monday, he has been asked to appear for questioning again on October 24. Mumbai Police has sought information about the artists working in the series. According to the Mumbai Police statement, they will also record the statement of the film’s actors and director. Police have also asked Ekta Kapoor and Shobha Kapoor to bring some documents related to Alt Balaji.
The matter is related to season 6 of the web series ‘Gandii Baat’ on OTT platform Alt Balaji. It is written in the complaint that this series, which was streamed on Alt Balaji between February 2021 and April 2021, shows obscene scenes of minor girls. However, this controversial episode is not streaming on this app at the moment.
