Of the 21 candidates in the field, there are only 7 women, which are less than 9 in the previous year. However, the presence of three women candidates for the post of President has made the competition more interesting.
Students from 52 DU colleges, departments and institutions cast their votes on Thursday. The election created a lot of enthusiasm among the students, and the discussion about it is going on on social media. Special attention has also been paid to security and arrangements in the campus.
For the post of President, nine candidates are competing. They include Aryan Mann from ABVP, Josleen Nandita Chaudhary from NSUI and Anjali from SFI-AISA alliance. Other candidates of the race are Anuj Kumar, Divyanshu Singh Yadav, Rahul Kumar, Umanshi Lamba, Yogesh Meena and Abhishek Kumar.

The RSS -backed ABVP secured the posts of Vice President and Secretary. Raunak Khatri of NSUI won the president’s seat, defeated Rishabh Chaudhary of ABVP by more than 1,300 votes. This was the first win of NSUI in the presidency since 2017, when Rocky Tus was selected.
