Due to lack of care, Gijgarh Fort’s shabby condition, historical existence in crisis

Dausa Abhay Durg of Gijgarh is situated in the lap of nature near the Alwar-Gangapur Mega Highway on the mountains of the Aravalli mountain range located in Gijgarh, Gram Panchayat of Sikarai subdivision of Dausa district. This fort is famous for its natural beauty, but due to lack of care, this fort is becoming dilapidated. If it is not taken care of in time, then its existence can end. Despite this, a large number of people come to see this fort. There is no system of any kind above the fort, although it is the highest and largest fort in the region.

History of Gijgarh Fort Ramjilal Saini and Shyam Singh Bhati, the then sarpanch of Gijgarh, said that this fort was constructed about 900 years ago. Centuries ago, Gijgarh village Chauhan was under Rajputs. In the year 1755, King Prithvi Singh gave Thakur of Pokaran and Sardar Thakur Shyam Singh of Champawat branch of Rathore dynasty in Jagir. After his death in 1793, his successor Ummed Singh became the ruler of Gijgarh. Kushal Bhagat Singh, the last ruler of this dynasty, sat on the throne of Gijgarh in 1901 and remained till 1960. Sudan Singh was also given the jagir here. Kan Singh also became the ruler here. Kushal Singh was also the Minister of Construction in the year 1947 after holding many administrative positions during the princely period. After this, the responsibility of the fort was taken by Manadata till 2009. After him, Yogeshwar Singh handled the fort. Currently, the arrangements of the fort are being handled by Madho Singh. The fort of the village is situated on about one and a half acres of land in the mountain.

In the absence of maintenance, the walls of the fort have become dilapidated. Local villagers said that now the Gijgarh fort is not being looked after properly, due to which the walls here are being damaged. The doors of the north and east directions have also deteriorated to visit and go to the fort. Yogeshwar has also constructed 221 stairs towards the eastern gate to go to the fort and 125 stairs towards the northern gate. Inside the fort, villagers visit the temple of Mata, Shivalaya and Ramdevra religious places to visit daily.

The scene of the village seems to be seen from the panoramic fort, the scene of Mandhosagar, the largest dam in Dausa district, the sedation of the sand and the greenery of the village appear to be a panoramic view of the greenery of the village. There are two steps for water in the old times in the fort.

The cannons were kept in the fort, the villagers told that the first four cannons were kept in the fort, but a few years ago the thieves took a cannon. The cannon is kept in the Manpur police station in Sikrai today. A cannon is still kept outside the fort.
