The Maratha Kota leader Manoj Zrenrange on Monday asked the protesters not to roam the streets of Mumbai and follow the directions of the Bombay High Court.
He appealed to the protesters to park their vehicles only in the specified parking areas.
A few hours after the Bombay High Court sinks on the conduct of the protesters, the appeal of Gerange comes.
Addressing a gathering at Azad Maidan on Monday night, Jerange said, “Follow the orders of the High Court. Do not bother Mumbaikars. Do not walk on the streets, park vehicles in specified areas. Those who do not want to listen to me, they can return to their villages.”
The Maratha Kota leader reiterated that he would leave Mumbai only after obtaining reservation under other backward classes (OBCs) category.
Jarang has been on hunger strike since August 29 at Azad Maidan in South Mumbai since August 29, seeking kunbi status for the Marathas, which will allow them to take advantage of quota benefits since they are part of the OBC.
Fadnavis says that the government will implement HC instructions on Maratha movement
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday that the Maharashtra government will implement the Bombay High Court’s instructions on the Maratha Kota protest led by Manoj Jarang.
He also said that the government is discussing finding a legal option to solve the deadlock on the demand of Maratha quota.
A bench of Justice Ravindra Ghunga and Gautam Ankhad said that since the protesters are not allowed to continue stirring, it hopes that the state government is expected to follow the fixed procedure in the law by initiating the appropriate steps.
The government would also not ensure that Jarang claimed that there is no other protestor, after which the city would enter.
The Chief Minister told reporters in Pune, “The government will implement the directions of the High Court,” asked reporters in Pune and dismissed the allegation that the law and order had collapsed.
He said, “There have been sporadic incidents (related to Maratha demonstrations), which have been approved by the police within minutes,” he said.
“I was traveling, so I don’t know what the court saw. I came to know that the court has seen some violations about the permission given to the protest in Mumbai. The court expressed displeasure over what is happening on the streets of Mumbai,” he said.
Fadnavis further said that the state cabinet minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil had shown a desire to interact with a delegation, but his demand is to discuss before a mic.
He said, “We are not stuck. The government is studying its memorandum to see if any positive results can be revealed. If a person comes forward for negotiations on their behalf, the process of finding the solution will be expedited,” he said.
