Diane Keaton’s son, Duke, is mourning the death of his mother at the age of 79. According to the New York Post, the 25-year-old was seen leaving the actress’ Los Angeles home on Sunday for the first time since her death. She wore all black, a backpack, and two silver cross necklaces, a nod to Keaton’s famous layered “devoted nun” look from the 1990s.

Keaton adopted Duke and his sister Dexter, now 29, when she was 50 and raised them on her own.
“Motherhood was not a desire I could resist,” she told Ladies Home Journal. “It seemed like an idea I’d been thinking about for a long time. So I jumped into it.”
His children mostly stayed out of the public eye but attended his Hand & Footprint ceremony in Los Angeles in August 2022.
When asked what it meant to have him there, Keaton said, “Everything. I love him.”
On the same program, she said, “He has no interest in what I do, which I think is very healthy. We live relatively normal – well, kind of normal – lives.”
Keaton’s family confirmed his death in California on Saturday. The cause of death has not been released.
Friends said his health had “suddenly declined” in recent months. “It was very unexpected,” one told *People*, “especially for someone with such strength and spirit.”
Songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, a longtime friend, said she had seen Keaton “two or three weeks before” his death. “She had lost a lot of weight,” Sager tells People. He also said that the actress was “too thin.”

Keaton never publicly disclosed any of his illnesses. She has battled skin cancer and an eating disorder twice before.
Her last Instagram post came on April 11, in which she was seen with her golden retriever Reggie. He was not seen in public for six months before his death.
