According to the dermatologist, if you experience gas, bloating or gut issues, be careful with chia seeds, as they can cause bloating in the stomach, potentially causing cramping and gas in people with gut issues. “Start with half a teaspoon and see how your gut reacts,” he suggests.
2. Low blood pressure
“People who have low blood pressure should consume chia seeds with caution, as they are naturally rich in alpha-linolenic acid and potassium, which lower your blood pressure. These may make you feel dizzy or weak,” she said.
3. Take blood thinning medicines
Dr. Sarin warned that if you or your parents are taking blood-thinning medications like aspirin or warfarin, be careful about eating chia seeds. Consuming too many omega-3s from chia seeds may increase bleeding, he said.
