Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi has expressed concern over “demographic changes” in parts of the country including Assam and West Bengal. He said that demographic change was a “tick time bomb”, as he had urged stakeholders to find a solution to a change in some parts of the country.
Addressing students and faculty at the President Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar, RN Ravi commented that reducing the bitterness on the language is not in India’s character or culture.
“This country has always managed to fight external aggression. But when it comes to internal affairs, what happened in the past? In 1947, India was divided due to internal transplantation. After an ideology people announced that they do not want to live with the rest of us. This ideology broke our nation,” Ravi insisted.
“Is anyone concerned about the change in demographics, which was done during the last 30-40 years in Assam, West Bengal and Purvanchal (parts of UP and Bihar)? Can anyone guess today that in the coming 50 years, the work to divide the nation will not be in these areas?” He asked.
He said, “We should do a study on rising sensitive demographics in some areas and what will be its future. This issue is like a tick time bomb. We have to think about how we will deal with this issue in future and start finding solutions from today itself.”
Talking about the lines of language in Maharashtra and Karnataka, RN Ravi said, “After independence, we started fighting with each other. There was a reason language. They were language. [those advocating states based on linguistic identity] This is called linguistic nationalism. ,
He said that the central government has constantly emphasized that all languages are worthy of the same honor.
“Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said on several occasions that all Indian languages are our national languages and we respect each of them. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also said that at least primary education should be provided in local languages in each state,” Ravi said.
