Tourists will get to see this tourist spot of historical importance in South Delhi. The 400-year-old Mughal-era Barapula bridge is close to Nizamuddin railway station. Till now it was under encroachment, due to which it was not visible to the people. But now ASI will bring it to its original form. In this way, tourists will get to see another archaeological heritage.

Gates are being installed on both sides so that tourists can see it from a distance.
Three tourist spots within a radius of two km
After the Barapula bridge returns to its original form, tourists will be able to see four tourist sites within a radius of two km. Humayun’s tomb, Hazrat Nizamuddin’s dargah, Abdul Rahim Khan-e-Khana’s tomb and Barapula bridge are nearby. Till now, people used to go back after seeing three tourist sites, now they will also be able to see the Barapula bridge built during Jahangir’s reign. Till now, this place was a victim of encroachment, recently, due to the blockage of the drain, the colonies around it were flooded, after which the Lieutenant Governor reached the spot and took immediate action. After this, the ASI has started working to bring it back to its original form. Due to this, this historical place was away from the eyes of tourists.

History of Barapula
According to historians, the bridge was constructed during the reign of Mughal emperor Jahangir between 1612 and 13, while according to SI’s book, it was constructed between 1621-22. The emperor built this bridge to go to Humayun’s tomb, Nizamuddin Dargah and Agra.
