New Delhi, The Delhi government is encouraging its schools to strengthen partnerships with NGOs and corporate social responsibility entities through the Vidyanjali portal, a central government initiative aimed at promoting community participation in education.

According to a circular issued by the Directorate of Education, the move is in line with the vision outlined in the National Education Policy 2020, which highlights volunteerism and collaboration as keys to transforming the country’s education system.
It said that NGOs, non-profit organizations and CSR partners can extend their services to Delhi government and aided schools through the Vidyanjali portal.
The circular said schools are encouraged to make full use of the opportunities under this platform while also ensuring that no personal or sensitive data of students is shared with external partners under any circumstances.
Citing guidelines issued by the Department of School Education and Literacy of the Education Ministry, the DoE said the “Adopt-a-School” module, which is now live on the official Vidyanjali website, allows formal collaboration between schools and external partners for long-term support and resource augmentation.
It said the concept note for the module was released by DoSEL on January 20, 2025, after a meeting chaired by the Economic Advisor.
According to the circular, school principals and heads have been authorized to accept proposals from CSR partners through the Vidyanjali portal based on the specific needs of the school.
No additional permission or no objection certificate is required from the Directorate for regular projects. However, for major works like construction of rooms, toilets or other high-value projects, approval will have to be taken from the directorate through the e-office system.
It further mentions that all proposals of CSR partners should be submitted through Vidyanjali portal only, the formalities should be completed jointly by the school and the contributor.
It states that maintenance of the assets should preferably be covered under the manufacturer’s warranty, while schools can use funds from the approved overall school grant for maintenance if necessary.
The circular said that once the projects get state-level approval on the portal, CSR entities can contribute in the form of activities, sponsorship or assets.
