The Ayodhya Ram temple, whose construction work was scheduled to be completed by June 2025, has been delayed. According to construction committee chairman Nripendra Mishra, the work is now expected to be completed by September 2025. ndtvThe chairman cited shortage of about 200 workers and the need to replace stones on the first floor of the temple as the primary reasons for the delay.

“The sculptor has assured us that all the sculptures will be completed by the end of the year,” Nripendra Mishra said. He said that the idols for the temple, which also include idols of Lord Ram’s court and six nearby temples, are being prepared in Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. It is expected that the idols will reach Ayodhya by December this year.
The final decision regarding the installation of the idols within the temple complex will be taken after the final idols reach Ayodhya. The temple trust has already accepted two idols of Ramlala which will be installed at prominent places.
Furthermore, he informed that 8.5 lakh cubic feet of red ‘Bansi Paharpur’ stones have been prepared for the boundary of the temple. He said that these stones have been delivered to Ayodhya but due to less workforce the construction has slowed down. Apart from shortage of workers, another major reason responsible for the delay is the “weak and thin” stones on the first floor of the temple which need to be replaced with ‘Makrana’ stones to ensure durability.
Recently, the construction committee of the temple called a two-day meeting in which the condition of the structures associated with the temple including the auditorium, boundary and parikrama path was reviewed. It is noteworthy that all these structures are under construction. It is important to note that efforts are ongoing to enhance the experiences of visitors to the site, especially for devotees who visit the Janmabhoomi Path and take the exit route.
