According to news agency PTI, at least 113 people have died so far due to floods, landslides, lightning and storms in Assam. More than 1.30 lakh people are affected in 10 districts. According to ANI, 215 animals have died so far this year due to floods in the state, including 13 one-horned rhinos in Kaziranga National Park.
Sarma’s latest post on social media comes as a rare display of appreciation between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the leader of the opposition party India Bloc. Hemant Soren is the leader of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), which is part of the India Bloc. Himanta Biswa Sarma is a BJP leader.
Sarma had earlier targeted Soren who is in jail in money laundering corruption cases. On July 16, Sarma had said that the BJP was going to form the government in Jharkhand.

“We have to form our government in Jharkhand… We have to replace the current government and bring in a double-engine government of the BJP. We will definitely win,” the Assam CM told reporters. “I am not doing any research work; just look at the results of the Lok Sabha elections. We got a very good response,” he added.
Jharkhand is one of the states where elections will be held later this year.
On July 8, days after taking oath as Jharkhand chief minister for the third time, Hemant Soren won the trust vote during a special session of the state assembly. Hemant Soren won the trust vote with 45 MLAs voting in his favour.
Soren had resigned as chief minister before his arrest on January 31. He was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in January on charges related to an alleged land scam and money laundering.
Hemant Soren was released from the Birsa Munda jail on June 28 after nearly five months after he was granted bail by the Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam.
Hemant Soren’s return as chief minister will strengthen the JMM, which had won three seats in the tribal-dominated state of Jharkhand in the Lok Sabha elections.
