Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh took the internet by storm when they made a pink and blue announcement about welcoming their first child in February. One of their first public appearances after the announcement was a promotional event for their pan-India project. Deepika ignored it and went her way for months and recently shut the trolls’ mouths with her and husband Ranveer’s pregnancy photoshoot, which showed off her beautiful and bare belly.
Now, with just a few days left for welcoming their little guest, Ranveer and Deepika visited the Siddhivinayak temple today to seek blessings. This happened on the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. However, what caught everyone’s attention was the beautiful silk weave worn by the mom-to-be.
Teal is a very uncommon colour when it comes to heavy ethnic wear. Not so for Deepika though. The actress wore it to perfection. The drape had a royal, deep teal colour with heavy gold embroidery on it. A simple low-seated bun and statement emerald studs were Deepika’s only choice of accessories. A perfect performance.
While we’re on the topic of unusual colours for very typical ethnic weaves, this aqua blue number, which also features golden work, is proof that no one can pull off a heavy-duty Desi outfit quite like Deepika. Total props to the classy and conservative full-length, button-cuffed blouse, in the aqua colour.
Though not a saree, silk has been Deepika’s go-to choice for big festivities like Diwali. In fact, she loves to wear the royal red colour and of course her favourite gold accents, even when wearing a salwar and a heavy dupatta. Take a look at this Diwali look of hers for example.
Many years ago, Ranveer and Deepika visited the Tirumala temple to celebrate their first anniversary. Deepika looked like a brand new bride in her sindoori red silk saree which had amazing gold embroidery work on it.
Talking about the post-wedding celebrations, Deepika was a sight to behold in this champagne gold silk saree and a high-neck, full-sleeved traditional blouse – her trademark aesthetic.
While inspired takes on the sari silhouette are always admirable, this collection of Deepika’s looks proves that there’s nothing like a classic drape.
