Self-Care Month is observed every year from June 24 to July 24. The month is marked to create awareness about simple acts of self-care that can help us feel better. Mental health is of utmost importance to all. Often mental health and mental health-related conditions are considered taboo which lead to difficulties and delay in seeking help. Deepika Padukone, who is very vocal about her mental health-related condition which she went through a few years ago, advocates self-care and self-love.
Deepika shared a picture of a calm place on her Instagram profile on Wednesday and stressed on the need to spend time in nature. “It’s Self-Care Month! But why celebrate ‘Self-Care Month’ when you can practice simple acts of self-care every day? I know a lot of you often look at my feed and say – here we come again! Another picture of the sky… or flowers… or the ocean! But the truth is that I find spending time outdoors and in nature really relaxing and therapeutic. However, for most of us, finding those places may not be the most convenient, accessible or may not even exist! And that’s why, whenever I get the opportunity, I try to make the most of it.

Deepika Padukone believes in spending time with herself and her thoughts
Speaking about her personal way of taking care of herself, Deepika said, “Whenever that’s not possible, I do what I think is best. I take a moment and get away. Between shots, between meetings, I go to a place that is completely different from where I spend most of my time. This is something my father has taught me. Getting away gives me a chance to stop, breathe and re-align… myself and my thoughts.”
Deepika had shared another self-care post a few days ago, in which she talked about the importance of working out. She shared a picture of herself doing Viparita Karani. “It’s no secret that I love a good workout. And that I work out not to look good but to actually ‘feel fit’. Exercise has been a part of my lifestyle ever since I can remember. However, whenever I can’t workout, I practice this simple 5-minute routine. TBT, I practice this routine everyday! I find it especially useful after a long flight or even to de-stress,” read an excerpt from her post.
Deepika had opened up about how she battled depression in 2015. In 2015, she also founded LiveLoveLaugh – an organisation that aims to help people suffering from stress, anxiety, and depression.
