According to the singer, a person named Mehboob Malik ran towards the stage after the song ended and confronted him. He demanded that she sing a ‘secular’ song. In an exclusive conversation with AyraNews24x7, Lagnajita Chakraborty told that the event had started at 7 pm and everything was going well, until she sang the song ‘Jaago Maa’. She said, ‘After finishing the song, I suddenly saw that a man came running towards the stage and came very close to me. He climbed on the stage and tried to harm me. Singer further told that the people present there intervened and removed the person from the stage. She said, ‘When he was being taken, he was shouting that ‘Jaago Maa’ is enough, now sing a secular song. He addressed me as ‘Tu’ in a derogatory manner.
Reached the police station after the incident
After the incident, Lagnajita announced on the stage that now it is not possible for them to continue the event. After this he ended the event there and lodged a complaint at Bhagwanpur police station. The police started investigation on his complaint and arrested the accused Mehboob Malik. Lagnajita Chakraborty is a famous Bengali playback singer. He made his mark with the song ‘Basanto Eshe’ from the Bengali film ‘Chatushkon’. She is one of the youngest singers of Kolkata, who has also done a musical tour in America. Apart from this, he has also received the award of Anandabazar Patrika.
