The digital world is growing rapidly in India and the need for cyber security has also increased. Keeping this in view, the Ministry of Information Technology (MeitY) has launched Cyber Security Innovation Challenge (CSIC) 1.0. Its objective is that students and researchers should create new cyber security solutions. The program was inaugurated by S Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY. Government officials, industry experts and people from the education world were also present on this occasion.
CSIC 1.0 is specifically designed for students and researchers to develop new and research-based cyber security ideas. The competition covers ten different areas: computer and network security, mobile device security, systems and software security, hardware security, security in future technology, cryptography, wireless network security, cyber forensics, governance and operations, and fintech security.
The competition will be held in five phases. With this, the ideas of the participants can be brought to Minimum Viable Product (MVP). The top 20 teams will get help from mentorship, technical webinars and industry experts. This means students can try their ideas in the real world.
S Krishnan also presented the video, website, registration portal and rules of the challenge on this occasion. He said that two things are important for cyber security – being aware of the threats and increasing technical capabilities. CSIC 1.0 accomplishes both these things.
This challenge will give students an opportunity to understand real-world cyber security problems. Along with this, they will also get a way to make a career in cyber security. This will also develop domestic cyber security products and solutions in India and strengthen the security of the country.
S Krishnan said that the support of the entire country is necessary for cyber security. This is related to Prime Minister Modi’s ‘whole-of-government’ vision. CSIC 1.0 is a big opportunity for students and youth to step into the world of cyber security.
