Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said that his party has also made mistakes and will have to change its politics in future.
The remarks came at an event in Lucknow where he accused Narendra Modi of being a king and not a prime minister and described him as a mask of “two-three financiers”.
Responding to a question on the Constitution from one of the audience at the event, the former Congress president said he was “100 per cent” ready to take on Narendra Modi in the debate, but he knew the Prime Minister would not agree.
He said, “In the coming times, the Congress Party will also have to change its politics. This will have to be done. I also want to say that the Congress Party has also made mistakes and I am saying this on behalf of the Congress Party.” Said in his speech.
However, he did not specify what “changes” he thought Congress needed.
The “Samvidhan Sammelan” was organized by the Samruddha Bharat Foundation.
Gandhi claimed that the ruling BJP would be reduced to less than 180 seats in the Lok Sabha elections.
“If you want, I can give you in writing that Narendra Modi will not become prime minister again,” he said, reiterating the prediction he made at joint rallies in Uttar Pradesh with Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.
He said, “Some people in politics only think about how to gain power. I was born in this and I have no interest in it. But for me it is just a means to help the public.”
He said that 90 percent of the population in India consists of SC/ST, OBC, Dalit, Tribal, Minority and poor from general community, who are not given equal participation.
He then reiterated his call for a caste-based census.
“If the country has to be strengthened, it cannot be done without including 90 per cent. If you say 90 per cent will not come to bureaucracy, sports, media, judiciary and even beauty pageants, then you Which superpower will it become? Do you want to make 10 percent of the population a superpower?
He accused the Prime Minister of attacking the Constitution. Gandhi said, “Modi ji is a king, I am telling the truth.”
“He is not a prime minister, he is a king. He has nothing to do with the Cabinet, Parliament or the Constitution. He is the king of the 21st century and faces the two or three financiers who have real power.”
At the end of his address, Gandhi raised three questions, one of which was on the recent suggestion that he and the PM should participate in a debate.
He said, “I am 100 percent ready to debate with anyone, even the Prime Minister.” But I know the Prime Minister will not argue with me.
He said that party president Mallikarjun Kharge can also take part in the debate.
When Gandhi was asked about the old pension scheme not being included in the party manifesto, he said the matter was open for consideration.
Asked whether privatized institutions would be re-nationalized by the Modi government, Gandhi said, “It will be difficult but we will not allow blatant privatization of big institutions.” PTI CDN ASH CDN ASH ASH VN VN
