The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Training Unit has introduced an essential teacher training for school heads and teachers in all CBSE-affiliated schools. The new initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and align with the National Professional Standards (NPST) for teachers (NPST) to install quality and accountability benchmarks in teacher development.
According to the CBSE notice, under the annual continuous occupational development (CPD) mandate, all teachers will have to complete at least 50 hours of training each year. This includes 25 hours through CBSE or Government Regional Training Institutes and 25 hours through in-house or school complex-based training.
Training will focus on the following major standards according to NPST:
Main Price and Ethics – 12 hours
Knowledge and Practice – 24 hours
Professional Development and Development – 14 hours
In a progressive step to align with India’s extended knowledge economy, CBSE has named STEM education (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) as the annual training subject for 2025.
The purpose of the teacher training process is to equip them with strategies to include experienced, inquiry-based and interdisciplinary methods in classroom teaching in the official CBSE notice.
The training program is designed to support teachers in accordance with NPST standards to ensure quality teaching and better student results. The official notice stated, “This training structure is designed to support the alignment of teachers with NPST benchmarks, which ensures quality teaching and better student results. The structure also takes into account the comprehensive CPD guidelines suggested by NCERT.”
“CPD guidelines issued by the board also accept activities that are academically tilted and contributing to teaching-teaching processes. Evaluation duties done by teachers for class X and XII board examinations, practical examiner’s duties, other developmental works such as research projects, presentations, presentations, presentations, CBSE conferences, e-conference, e-conference, e-conference, e-conference, e-conference, e-conference, e-conference, e-construction E-CROVENT, E-CROVENT, E-CROVENT, Entent, Entent, E-Content, E-Content, E-Crooving, Notice states that e-video channel CBSE 15, etc. have been accepted as CPD in CPD notification in CPD notification.
