CAT 2024 Overall Exam Analysis: Comparing all the slots, Slot 2 was slightly more difficult than Slot 1. However, slot 3 was the easiest, experts said

The Common Admission Test or CAT 2024 saw a change in the exam pattern with an increase in the number of questions in the DILR section. Moreover, according to experts, para formation questions were missing in the VARC section this year after appearing in the MBA entrance exam for at least 10 consecutive years. Held on November 24 (Sunday), students claimed that the CAT 2024 third slot exam was easier than the first two slots.
“The exam threw a curveball by changing the pattern of the paper,” said Ramnath Kanakadandi, senior curriculum director at TIME. The number of questions in the DILR section increased from 20 last year to 22 this year, with two sets of 5 questions each. And three sets of 4 questions each,” he said.

“The second change in the pattern of the paper was in the VARC section in which para formation questions were missing this year after appearing in CAT for at least 10 years. Also, this time, the VA questions were combined with the RC passage and this may have caused some inconvenience to students who were expecting the RC passage to appear as a block,” he said.
Meanwhile, comparing all the slots, Slot 2 was slightly more difficult than Slot 1. However, experts said that slot 3 was the easiest. “The VARC section of Slot 3 was relatively easier compared to the morning and afternoon slots,” Kanakadandi said. The pattern remained the same in the three slots, he said, with 16 questions from Reading Comprehension and 8 questions from Verbal Ability.
According to Gautam Puri, Co-Founder and MD, Career Launcher Slot 1 was comparatively tougher than Slot 2. “Gathering feedback from many test takers, the CAT 2024 Slot 2 paper can be considered moderately difficult. The Slot 2 CAT 2024 paper was almost similar in difficulty level to the first slot of the day. Overall, Slot 2 of CAT 24 was easier than Slots 1 and 2 of CAT 23,” he said.
